Associate Professor Hu Mei from the IIE was invited to the University of Laos Sufenuvon University for academic exchanges

On April 25, 2018, Associate Professor Hu Mei of the IIE and Graduate Student Lu Yue were invited to attend the academic exchange meeting held at Sufenuvon University in Laos. At the same time, the attendees also included two teachers, Zhou Yamin and Zhang Ying, from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Hu Shengfeng, general manager of project execution of the China Power Construction Group's overseas investment company.

 

 

The conference focused on the "One Belt and One Road" initiative. Professor Hu Mei published a keynote speech titled Thinking about China's Participation in Global Governance under the Belt and Road Initiative. Our graduate student Lu Yue combined her own research background and published a speech Industrial Structure Adjustment and Upgrading under the circumstances of China's digital economy.

 

 

Professor Hu Mei also pointed out in the meeting that the current world economy has the problem of "market failure" and unbalanced development. The "One Belt and One Road" initiative is actually that China as a big country, through the construction of infrastructure in relatively backward countries, to achieve interconnection and then achieve the purpose of promoting the balanced development of the world economy.

 

 

Finally, on behalf of the Institute of International Economy of the University of International Business and Economics, Prof. Hu Mei gave Sufenuvon University own monograph, Research on International Industry Transfer in the Perspective of Economic Globalization.This exchange abroad was the first time in the history of the University of International Business and Economics to conduct academic exchanges in Laos. Through exchanges with Laotian scholars and on-the-spot investigations of Chinese companies investing in foreign investment, we have strengthened our understanding and confidence in the current development of the Belt and Road initiative, it has been a successful attempt.
