Rui Zhuang, associate Dean of Institute of International Economics (IIE), at the invitation of the organizer of the conference, went to Nanning, Guangxi on December 15-17, 2017 to attend the 2017 International Symposium on East Asia Summit and East Asian Cooperation. The conference was sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and well-known East Asian research institute ERIA (Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia), co-hosted by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Guangxi University. The theme of the conference is Jointly Promote the Development of Ease Asia. Dozens of experts and scholars from Japan, South Korea, Russia, India, the Philippines, Indonesia and Laos attended this international symposium. At the conference, Professor Rui Zhuang made a keynote speech entitled RCEP: Progress and Challenges (Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement: Processes and Challenges), which was well received by the organizers and participants of the conference. After the meeting, Professor Rui Zhuang and other scholars thoroughly discussed issues such as the East Asian regional economic cooperation and China's "The Belt and The Road Initiative", and reached preliminary intentions for furthering the cooperation between the Institute of International Economics and ERIA and other international academic institutions.
