Zhuang Rui, vice president of the National Opening-up Research Institute and Institute of International Economy of the University of International Business and Economy, told the reporter of International Business Daily that this year’s government work report proposed high-quality joint construction of the “Belt and Road”, which means that the “Belt and Road” construction has entered A new stage. In the future, the "five links" construction of the "Belt and Road" will embody quality orientation rather than scale orientation. The construction of the “Belt and Road” project will also improve the effectiveness and quality of cooperation. At the same time, the "Belt and Road" construction will expand cooperation with more countries in a wider range, especially strengthening cooperation with developing countries.
The government work report also proposes to promote trade and investment liberalization and facilitation. Firmly safeguard the multilateral trading system and actively participate in WTO reforms. Promote the signing of regional comprehensive economic partnership agreements and advance China-Japan-Korea free trade negotiations. Jointly implement the first phase of China-US economic and trade agreement. China is committed to strengthening economic and trade cooperation with other countries to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.
Zhuang Rui said that China mainly promotes trade and investment liberalization and facilitation through two paths of multilateral and regional cooperation. At the multilateral level, China promotes global trade and investment liberalization and facilitation under the multilateral trading system with the World Trade Organization (WTO) at its core. China will continue to promote the WTO reform process and provide a "Chinese solution." At the regional level, this year’s task is to promote the final signing and entry into force of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, and to advance China-Japan-Korea free trade negotiations. "Under the new historical conditions, China will continue to move towards its established goals, promote greater, greater, and higher levels of trade and investment liberalization and facilitation at the multilateral and regional levels, and will unswervingly move toward openness."
